The One Client Most Leaders Overlook (That Changes Everything)
Your most important client?!
It’s not who you think.
In marketing, we’re taught to obsess about understanding our clients.
We step into their shoes, see the world through their eyes, and align our actions to meet their needs, want and values.
The better we understand them, the better we can serve them.
This is Marketing 101… yet how many businesses still miss this?
I’ve always believed in taking it a step further — starting with your internal clients.
Your team. Your people.
Because when your staff are aligned, energised and supported, they show up at their absolute best.
One of my earliest career wins came from this — landing a role that asked for 10 years' experience when I had just six months.
Why? Because I was the best cultural fit. I was aligned. And with the right support I was able to fly.
But there’s another layer most leaders overlook
Because if you’re a business owner or a leader, there’s one client more important than your customer… more important than your team…
👉 The one staring back at you in the mirror.
And not the “expected” version of you — the polished, productive, people-pleasing version.
I’m talking about the real you.
The version that gets buried under busyness.
Drowned out by social media. Numbed by doing what’s expected.
That’s why silent retreats feel so intense…and so powerful.
I've done them. No noise. No distractions. Just you and your thoughts.
Luckily, you don’t need a silent retreat to benefit.
Just a few minutes of focused attention each day can shift everything.
Here’s why this matters
In order to lead, grow and evolve — especially during uncertain or high-pressure times — you need more than logic.
You need strategic alignment.
And that only happens when you connect your logical mind with your deep intuition.
When I’ve been in that state — fully aligned — things flow.
When I’ve drifted from it, things started to break down.
And here's something most people miss:
As you grow, your internal client evolves too.
What once excited you may now feel flat.
What worked on paper might now feel heavy.
The signs?
Diminishing motivation
Boredom
Eroding confidence
Positive stress theory suggests we do our best work when operating about 6% beyond our comfort zone.
Not stuck in overwhelm. Not coasting. But stretched just enough to keep growing.
A real story
The other day I was working with a talented marketer on her personal brand.
I sensed something deeper was blocking her from the breakthrough she deserved.
So I asked permission to take her there.
We uncovered what was truly holding her back and released it.
Since then, her motivation has skyrocketed. Her confidence is so much stronger. Her messaging is aligned.
And best of all? She's sleeping through the night again.
Yes, it takes courage.
And no, it’s not selfish.
In fact, it’s one of the most strategic things you can do.
Because when you deeply understand and support yourself, everything else becomes easier:
Your leadership
your communication
Your decision-making
Your growth
So... how do you start? What can you do yourself?
You know the saying: “To know someone, spend time with them.”
Start spending a few minutes a day with yourself. Without distractions!
Try one of these:
A quiet walk in nature
A slow morning coffee
A short journaling session
Then ask yourself:
When do I feel most alive?
Who made me recently feel on top of the world?
What would I do if I truly loved myself?
No pressure to find answers. Just give yourself space to reconnect.
✨ Insights will bubble up — sometimes during, sometimes later in your day or week.
You might be wondering, what does this have to do with my business, my strategy, my leadership?
Everything.
You'll gain clarity, more confidence, and your actions will become infused with energy and conviction.
I dare you to try it for 1 day. Or 7.
And if you’re ready for real change: try it for 28.
This is just one of the 5 empowering strategies I shared in my Move Forward in Business with Confidence Masterclass - all practical and ready to implement.
Ready to go deeper?

It’s time to treat yourself accordingly.
